A 19th-century renovated chateau with enclosed grounds of 6 hectares overlooking the Loire Valley and 15 minutes from Nantes. Towards the village, a small road ascends the hillside from the banks of the Loire up to a no-through road. The first section, suitable for motor vehicles, allows a few authorised vehicles to access the only two properties along the road, while an enclosure wall in schist rubble stone runs along the no-through road and the neighbouring fields, delineating the property line. Once past the wrought-iron gate supported by two brick pillars, a drive weaves its way through woodland, past an outbuilding with a garage and a pavilion – once the caretaker’s cottage – on one side, before arriving at the courtyard and the chateau’s northern façade. Vehicles can also exit the grounds through another gate located at the end of the no-through road, which provides dual access to the property.
Built in 1850 for an industrialist from Nantes in search of a holiday home quickly accessible from the banks of the Loire, the chateau overlooks the valley, while a wooded section creates a verdant curtain that isolates the property from the municipal road and guarantees its privacy.
The chateau overlooks a vast patio and vineyards in the back, while a landscaped space with a swimming pool is located below and off to one side. All around, the ornamental garden includes impressive, multi-century cedars that extend towards the dense, terraced wooded areas, forming a natural barrier from the urban development. In addition, down below, near the river, there is a vast meadow where sheep can be found grazing in the winter, while the grounds, entirely enclosed by walls, include a little over 6 hectares.
