Castle Mesnil-Panneville (76)

In Normandy, between Rouen and Dieppe, in a beautiful countryside setting, this stone and brick château dates back to the 18th century, but retains some 17th-century features, such as the turret, and even late 16th-century features, such as the kitchen. The 540 m² main building is built over a first floor, a first floor and an attic, flanked on the left by a pavilion with two first floors and an attic, and on the right by a small brick turret with a terraced section at the rear, including a kitchen. A majestic triangular pediment dating from 1732 adorns the front façade. The château chapel is the former church, rebuilt in the 19th century. The outbuildings, comprising the stables, the orangery dating from 1724 and another building adjoining the orangery, are traditional brick and flint constructions with well-maintained slate roofs. The property is set in 2 hectares of parkland, with 11 hectares of woodland surrounding it. The château has only been sold once in six centuries, two hundred years ago. Castle Rouen (76)

Ref. 4158: Magnificent property with 18th century chateau for sale in the Rouen region. The property is located in Seine Maritime, north-east of Rouen. It benefits from a rural, wooded, undulating setting without, however, being too isolated. After following a small forest road through the 74,13 acres of woodland, this noble residence in the pure style of 18th century châteaux comes into view. With its regular brick, stone and rendered facade, tall windows and slate roof with chimney stacks, it is an invitation to daydream. As soon as you reach the entrance gates, you will discover the North/West façade. It offers a romantic view thanks to the graceful branches of the beautiful trees planted around it. The numerous outbuildings are pleasantly set in the parkland, without detracting from the view of the building. On either side of the entrance are the garage building and a group of buildings dedicated to tourism. The south-east facade features an attractive terrace overlooking a high moat. From here, you have a fine view of the surrounding countryside, thanks to the undulating topography. On the ground floor: a beautiful gallery paved with limestone features many windows and French windows on the north-west facade, providing a pleasant flow through the reception rooms. The dining room is beautifully decorated with herringbone parquet flooring, original wood panelling and painted cartouches, and features a wood-burning stove. The lounge, also adorned with panelling, painted cartouches, parquet flooring and a fireplace, opens onto the south-facing terrace. This is followed by a billiards room, a small lounge and a small dining room. Two staircases on either side provide access to the mezzanine and first floor. The kitchen and another dining room with its imposing fireplace are on the ground floor of the 'North Tower'. On the mezzanine floors (north and south) and on the 1st floor: two staircases and a long gallery provide access to 12 bedrooms, the smallest of which are used as a study or dressing room. There is a bathroom, two shower rooms with wc, a separate wc and a linen room. Second floor: four additional bedrooms and a shower room of around 60 sqm and a magnificent 180 sqm attic. The total living space is almost 460 sqm. - There are 9 tree houses in the 66,72 acres of woodland, the perfect place for nature-based tourism. -A charming 'gardener's house' (approx. 45 sqm floor space) could become a home once it has been beautifully renovated. -A 'hut house' of around 110 sqm on the ground floor has been completely renovated with sanitary facilities (ERP standards - disabled access) and reception, and a 90 sqm meeting room upstairs. The building is currently under lease, but this will be terminated when the property is sold. -A large garage provides a surface area of more than 70 sqm, not including the first floor. The roof is due for renovation in the near future. -A number of other small buildings are used as stables, a barn and a garden shed. The 74,13 acres of land include a garden, parklands and woods. Castle Saint-Saëns (76)

An elegant chateau from the 18th and 19th centuries with six hectares of grounds, nestled beside Eawy forest in France’s Pays de Bray province, two hours from Paris. Roads through Eawy forest, then country lanes through hedge-lined meadows from the town of Saint-Saëns, lead to the village where the chateau is nestled. Beyond a calvary, a row of majestic plane trees edges the property. Then the estate comes into view. A church opposite watches over the grounds. Beside the entrance stands a building of red brick and sandstone. On the other side of the entrance, there is a characterful half-timbered house. Between these two structures, there is a sturdy wrought-iron double gate flanked by two yew hedges. It is positioned a long way from the buildings. From this gate, you can admire vistas on all sides. The chateau towers proudly in the middle of its tree-dotted grounds. The building was a hunting lodge at the end of the 18th century. Later, it was extended during the Bourbon Restoration, a period of French history that lasted from 1815 to 1830. The chateau is the successor to a seigneurial manor house that once stood here and that dated back to an unknown year. For 300 years, the dwelling belonged to the same family of landowners. The members of this family were nobles of the sword who served in the French king’s armies and later in the emperor’s armies. Some members of this family are now buried in the church that neighbours the property. During the July Monarchy, when Louis-Philippe I reigned in France, a marquis and knight built the two towers that flank the chateau and gave the dwelling its current appearance. That was when this grand house became today’s imposing edifice with a straight central section. The chateau’s architecture is neoclassical in style. It has a base course of dressed stone, walls of brickwork and stone, and rectangular windows that are evenly laid out in a symmetrical arrangement. It is crowned with a slate roof. To the south-east there is a wood store. The buildings mostly have slate roofs and walls of brick and stone. The relaxing grounds include many groves, a vegetable patch, an orchard, a pond and pastureland reserved for grazing.

4 km from the Alabaster Coast, in parklands of almost 14 hectares, a 17th century listed chateau with numerous outbuildings. A quiet country road leads through fields and groves to a wrought-iron gate supported by brick pillars topped by sculptures. The caretaker's house, the former kennel and the dovecote are located at the entrance to the park. A driveway lined with tall trees leads to the chateau. It is surrounded by gravel areas followed by vast lawned grounds which separate it, on one side, from three outbuildings and, further ahead, from the stables. At the rear, the orchard, the “pavillon d’octroi” (local customs lodge) and the rose garden with the two swimming pools are located beyond the lawns. The woodlands are situated on the edge of the property.
