Dating from the late 18th century, this former farmhouse, with its Provençal charm, is divided into two separate houses and sits on a 516 m2 wooded plot in the heart of the idyllic Accates district.
A true invitation to the good life, the 164 m2 bastide, semi-detached on one side, serves as the starting point for a bespoke renovation project deeply rooted in the Provençal spirit. The charm of yesteryear, exemplified by the original carriage entrances, triple Genoese-style eaves, exposed beams, and terracotta floors, is immediately apparent. Proposed by architect Jérôme Pichoux with the aim of harmoniously integrating with its natural surroundings, the submitted project preserves the authenticity of the property while infusing it with a new modernity, notably through the creation of an extension to expand the living space. The project utilizes the existing structure to offer a contemporary interpretation of the spaces, where volumes and light interact with subtlety. The materials are intended to be both raw and mineral: terracotta tile flooring, exposed concrete, a fireplace, and masonry seating. Spread over three levels and facing due south, the bastide is revealed through a large living space connected to the garden by expansive bay windows. The true heart of the house, this level will house a living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a separate kitchen with an adjoining pantry, all linked by large arched openings. Designed in light-colored exposed concrete, the staircase leads to the first sleeping area, comprising two large suites. The top floor accommodates two additional bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Outside, the layout is designed for comfortable and convivial living, with terraces, a wrought-iron pergola, and a swimming pool designed with terracotta tiles--all the hallmarks of Provence are present.
