In Tours, near the train station, a surprising house and its garden. The dead end runs alongside the garage and the gable of the house. Concealed by vegetation, a gate opens onto a meticulously maintained city garden, dotted with flowers and flowerbeds. Surrounded by walls, the grassy space includes a terrace and a pond, while a paved path leads at ground level to the residence. Facing south, it consists of an old long farmhouse in tuffeau, dated from the early 20th century, and a contemporary extension from 1999, largely glazed and raised over two levels. The slate roof, pierced with skylights, has been partially raised on the north side and topped with a zinc cover. A cornice highlights the stone facade, punctuated by three openings with aluminum joinery. The extension, whose verticality contrasts with the lines of the old long farmhouse, introduces a dialogue between old and contemporary architecture. Inside, original materials coexist with more recent fittings. The garden level brings together several living spaces and a bedroom with a bathroom, while three other bedrooms and two shower rooms occupy the upper levels. Recently renovated, the house is in excellent general condition and has undergone work aimed at improving its energy performance.
