The parish of Santo António is located on the north coast of the island of São Miguel (latitude of 37°51' north and longitude of 25°42' west), in the municipality of Ponta Delgada. The parish is about 18 kilometers from the city of Ponta Delgada, facing the parishes of Capelas, Feteiras, Sete Cidades and Santa Bárbara.
The parish covers an area of 11.73 km² and has 1,829 inhabitants (2011 census), so its population density is 155.9 inhabitants/km².
The parish has registered a great development in recent years, largely explained by the investments made in the improvement of the road network and in the construction of infrastructures.
In the tourism sector, we highlight the interventions in areas such as the leisure area of Rosário, with the picnic area and the connection between the bathing areas of Rosário and the Fishing Port; the Fonte Grande Viewpoint and Picnic Park; the Grota do Inferno viewpoint, inserted in Mata do Canário; Largo da Mourisca; the recovery of sinks; the Mãe de Deus Viewpoint and the Santo António Viewpoint, on the Regional Road.
In terms of collective infrastructures, the parish is equipped with a Sports Center; a Parish Hall with various support infrastructures; a Primary School; a Cultural Centre, which houses the Day Centre for the Elderly and the Scout Group; the Figueiras Playing Field and the Multipurpose Building, where the Parish Council, the Casa de Povo and the Health Center are located.
There are also several Tourism / Local Accommodation units in the parish, as well as restaurants, cafes, snack bars and minimarkets.
Agriculture, namely cattle raising, occupies a very important role in the economy of the parish.
