It is close to the dog friendly Unit 1 pub and craft centre and not far to Botolph’s Bridge pub restaurant. It is also a wonderful area for families with the sandy beach at Dymchurch not far away and plenty of places to go for walks and for anyone who enjoys fishing the canal offers good sport. With regard to education there are good local primary schools including Lympne and Dymchurch, excellent grammar schools in Ashford, Folkestone and Canterbury and first class private schools in Canterbury and Ashford. At the top of the hill is Lympne, most famous for Port Lympne Animal Park but also for its impressive castle that is now a fairytale wedding and events venue as well as having a Medieval Pub open most days and the Naughty Dog which is a very dog friendly restaurant. There is also the County Members pub and a restaurant and overnight accommodation at Port Lympne and the village also includes a convenience store and post office. However Hythe is only about five minute drive with its array of individual shops, restaurants and pavement cafés as well as a range of supermarkets including Waitrose and Sainsbury’s and the world famous Romney Hythe and District miniature railway as well as a plethora of sports clubs including the Sene Valley Golf Club. You can take a train from Westenhanger station but it is only about 20 minutes to Ashford for the high speed train and shorter journey times and it is not far to the M20 and Channel Tunnel for a trip to the Continent.

Having looked at numerous properties 13 years ago and been disappointed, I fell in love with this house with its wonderful views the moment I saw it and knew it would be a delightful family home. Over the years we have modernised the house including creating the open-plan living room, enhanced the conservatory and opened up the kitchen and dining area. There are wonderful places to go for country walks straight out of our gate into woodland, to the nature reserve, the nearby Seaton Lakes or round to Wickhambreaux and the excellent Rose Inn or continue round to Ickham for a stop off at the well-known Duke William. While it will be a wrench to leave this special home it is time to start a new chapter and pass the baton on to owners who can take advantage of the planning permission for the building of a four bedroom and two three bedroom detached houses in the grounds. Wingham is a charming village stretching out along a tree-lined high street dominated by the tall green spire of the historic St Mary's Church with its 13th century arches. The village includes thatched cottages, medieval hall houses and handsome Georgian buildings with around sixty houses built before 1760 and many dating back to the 1400s that all combine to give the village a unique, traditional beauty. However it is no sleepy backwater as it has two pubs including the Dog Inn, winner of the 2019 Great British Pub award, the Wingham Central Stores, the Wingham Country Market, bakery, and newsagent, as well as a well-regarded primary school, a surgery, dentist and beauty salon. We moved here about seven years ago as we love the peace and tranquility and the wonderful views. During our time here we have completely renovated and extended the property to create the gorgeous family home you see today. We converted the garage into the games room and added extra rooms including the first floor sitting room and wonderful roof terrace. The house looks amazing dressed overall at Christmastime and we have even put a table tennis table in the games room so we could seat 20 people for Christmas lunch. Although the gardens are quite large, they are easy to manage as we use a robot mower that wanders around all day keeping the grass well-manicured. While we love this house, we are moving to be nearer other family members and hope new owners will enjoy everything about this wonderful home. Although we are surrounded by the Kent countryside we are not far from Canterbury and Ashford. It is also only a three minute drive or a 20 minute walk to Chilham which includes two pubs and a good primary school plus free parking at its mainline station with access to high speed trains to London taking less than an hour. Chilham is probably one of the most beautiful villages in the South East of England with its 16th century black and white houses, The White Horse Inn and tea rooms surrounding the delightful village square. This also has gated access to Chilham castle which was destroyed except for the impressive Medieval Keep and was replaced by a magnificent Jacobean mansion set in 25 acres of delightful gardens and 300 acres of park and woodland. This was created by a number of famous designers including Capability Brown and now features an international cross country course. You will also find the excellent Badgers farm shop and cidery as well as Bagham Barn Antiques.
