House with garden and terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)
Wildage Farm enjoys a peaceful position on the edge of Stelling Minnis, a sought after rural village known for its open common “The Minnis”, historic windmill, village shop and strong sense of community. The surrounding countryside is characterised by rolling fields, woodland and footpaths. My husband and I enjoyed many walks through the surrounding Forestry Commission woodland and nearby nature reserve, while our sons enjoyed hours of cycling and running on the miles of quiet country lanes and bridleways. Wildage offered us more than enough space and facilities to follow our dreams – a studio for painting, the extensive gardens where we grew vegetables and planted fruit trees, space for entertaining, keeping chickens (or horses, if that’s your thing), our own woodland (handy for firewood) and much more. The local pub, village shop with Post Office and village hall events have been a real bonus. With the city of Canterbury just a 20 minute drive away we’ve enjoyed the shops, cafés, restaurants, leisure facilities and cultural attractions it offers. We leave with so many fond memories, including punts along the Stour, Christmas Carols in the Cathedral and theatre trips to the Marlowe and Gulbenkian. Just wandering the cobbled streets and indulging in the independent art shops and boutiques gave us much pleasure. We have been thankful for the good travel connections for such a countryside setting. Catching trains to London from Canterbury or Ashford (the latter in just 38 minutes) and by car the A2 and M20 are not far. For international travel, the Channel Tunnel and Dover’s ferry port are both within easy reach, which has made trips to the continent a breeze. As we prepare to hand over to the next generation we feel incredibly blessed to have been custodians of such a beautiful, private and historic home, which has given us so many wonderful memories. We wish the new owners equal happiness here.

House with garden and terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)
What the Owners Say: We bought this superb property some 23 years ago as we absolutely loved the location with wonderful views, a quiet and peaceful environment yet close enough to the village amenities not to feel isolated. Over the years we have completely renovated and refurbished the property to become a gorgeous family home and have wonderful memories of our life here, however we now plan to downsize and have a property ready to move into. As well as the opportunity to create an annexe, if a new family have equine interests, they could turn part of the rear garden back into a paddock and build stables. As we literally abut the edge of the Minnis it is possible to ride out of our gate straight onto the Minnis and enjoy a hack without ever having to go on the road. The Minnis is also a great place for a walk with the dog and there are excellent opportunities for cycling around the neighbourhood, while golfing enthusiasts have many courses to choose from such as Echinghill, Sene Valley, Canterbury and Broome Park. Stelling Minnis is a friendly village with a local pub, an historic windmill, a post office and a village store for any immediate needs as well as a village hall that hosts a variety of activities including discos and regular film nights. We fell in love with the house the minute we walked into the lovely large living space some 39 years ago and have enjoyed living in this lovely family home ever since. House with garden Hythe (United Kingdom)
This property was our parents’ pride and joy and for more than four decades they revelled in the space, the history, the character and the location along a quiet no through road. Having direct access to the Military Canal footpath allows you to walk into Hythe in one direction or taking the country route the other way and even having the opportunity to spot some of the animals in the Port Lympne Animal Park. It is close to the dog friendly Unit 1 pub and craft centre and not far to Botolph’s Bridge pub restaurant. It is also a wonderful area for families with the sandy beach at Dymchurch not far away and plenty of places to go for walks and for anyone who enjoys fishing the canal offers good sport. With regard to education there are good local primary schools including Lympne and Dymchurch, excellent grammar schools in Ashford, Folkestone and Canterbury and first class private schools in Canterbury and Ashford. At the top of the hill is Lympne, most famous for Port Lympne Animal Park but also for its impressive castle that is now a fairytale wedding and events venue as well as having a Medieval Pub open most days and the Naughty Dog which is a very dog friendly restaurant. There is also the County Members pub and a restaurant and overnight accommodation at Port Lympne and the village also includes a convenience store and post office. However Hythe is only about five minute drive with its array of individual shops, restaurants and pavement cafés as well as a range of supermarkets including Waitrose and Sainsbury’s and the world famous Romney Hythe and District miniature railway as well as a plethora of sports clubs including the Sene Valley Golf Club. You can take a train from Westenhanger station but it is only about 20 minutes to Ashford for the high speed train and shorter journey times and it is not far to the M20 and Channel Tunnel for a trip to the Continent.

House with garden Deal (United Kingdom)
What the owners say: We’ve enjoyed this private and privileged position on the outskirts of Walmer, a sought‑after area rightly celebrated for its peaceful atmosphere, historic charm, and access to some of Kent’s most picturesque seafronts. Just minutes away lies the Walmer and Deal coastline, offering long promenades, shingle beaches, and panoramic sea views stretching towards the iconic Deal Pier. The area is rich in heritage, with Walmer Castle and Deal Castle providing cultural interest alongside beautifully maintained gardens and scenic walking routes. Whether enjoying a morning stroll along the shore, dining in one of Deal’s acclaimed independent restaurants, or exploring boutique shops and galleries, the surrounding towns offer a vibrant yet relaxed coastal lifestyle within easy reach. Despite its rural tranquillity, our home is exceptionally well connected. Nearby Deal provides a wide range of amenities including supermarkets, cafés, artisan bakeries, leisure facilities, and a thriving high street. For families, the area offers excellent schooling options, both state and independent, while outdoor enthusiasts benefit from easy access to cycling routes, and miles of countryside and coastal paths. Golfing enthusiasts can enjoy their game at the Kingsdown and Walmer and the Royal Cinque Ports golf clubs and if you want to go slightly further afield there are also the championship courses at Sandwich. We are also ideally placed for commuting. Walmer station is half a mile away, offering high speed direct rail services to London in under 90 minutes, making the capital comfortably accessible for daily travel. Road links are equally convenient, with the A2 and M2 providing straightforward routes towards Canterbury, Dover, and London. This rare combination of rural seclusion, coastal beauty, and strong transport connections makes the location particularly appealing for those seeking a balanced lifestyle; peaceful at home yet well connected when needed. Historical Information The owners have been informed by previous residents of the farm that Lord Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, used Coldblow Farm to house his hunting dogs when he was Lord Warden at nearby Walmer Castle. In the 1950s an original 19th Century Hooden Horse was discovered and dug up in the front garden. This is on display in Deal Museum.

House with garden Deal (United Kingdom)
This has been a very special place for the past 30 years in an amazing and tranquil location with wonderful views and places to go for walks but it is time to downsize and move closer to family. While we have enjoyed updating the property over the years, including converting the garage, there are plenty of opportunities for new owners to put their own stamp on the house and create their own unique and individual home. We are not far from Kingsdown with its three pubs, a good primary school, convenience store and post office as well as the Kingsdown and Walmer golf club. Walmer includes local shops, bars and restaurants, a bandstand, the Downs Sailing Clubhouse and a mainline station with fast trains to St Pancras taking an hour and 20 minutes. The Tides swimming pool complex is not far away and Deal is close by with its plethora of quaint streets, period properties, excellent restaurants including the Dining Club, The Blue Pelican and Little Harriet’s tea rooms. There are also a raft of attractive independent shops as well as the Saturday market, the seafront with its historic pier and the Royal Cinque Ports golf club and, if you want to go slightly further afield, you will find the championship courses at Sandwich. As far as education is concerned there are very good primary schools in the area while a wide variety of excellent grammar and private schools are available in the nearby towns.

What the Owners Say: Living at Hull Place in Sholden has given us the perfect balance of countryside calm and everyday convenience. It’s a location that feels tucked away, private and peaceful, yet everything we need is only a few minutes from the door. The area has a lovely village feel, friendly, safe, and beautifully green, and we’ve always appreciated how easy it is to get around, whether heading into Deal (twinned with St Omer), out to the coast, or further afield. One of the biggest advantages of living here is the transport connectivity. Despite the rural setting, we’re only a short drive from Deal railway station, which offers regular services to London St Pancras via High‑Speed, London Charing Cross, and London Bridge, making commuting or visiting the city straightforward. Road links are equally convenient: the A258 takes you quickly towards Dover or Sandwich, and the A2/M2 is easily accessible for travel to Canterbury, Medway and beyond. Bus routes through Sholden and Deal provide reliable local connections too. Day‑to‑day amenities are close at hand. Deal’s town centre is just a few minutes away and offers an excellent range of independent shops, boutiques, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants. We’ve always enjoyed the mix of practical convenience and coastal charm, from picking up groceries to strolling along the seafront or browsing the Saturday market. Closer still, Sholden has a welcoming community atmosphere with local stores and services that make life easy. One of our favourite aspects of living here has been the access to farm shops and local produce. Within a short drive you’ll find places like Ripple Farm, Solley’s Farm, and several smaller independent growers offering fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and artisan goods. It’s a lovely part of the lifestyle here, being able to buy local, seasonal produce and enjoy the countryside on the way. Families will appreciate the excellent choice of award winning local schools. Sholden has a well‑regarded primary school, and Deal offers a strong selection of both primary and secondary options, including Warden House, Kingsdown & Ringwould, Goodwin Academy, and Dover Grammar Schools within easy reach. The area has always felt very family‑friendly, with safe streets, green spaces and plenty of activities for children. What we’ve loved most about Hull Place is the sense of calm it provides. The tree‑lined surroundings, the quiet lanes and the gentle countryside backdrop make it feel like a retreat, yet everything, shops, schools, transport, the beach, is close enough to reach in minutes. It’s a location that has offered us privacy, convenience and a wonderful quality of life.

House with garden and terrace Sandwich (United Kingdom)
This has been a wonderful family home for the past 10 years and we have taken great pride in refurbishing the place to provide everything needed for modern day living, while still retaining the period ambience of the property. However we are starting a new chapter in our lives and hope new owners will enjoy everything we have done to create this unique home in a very special village location The historic village of Eastry lies on the Roman Road between Dover and Richborough. It is a friendly place with the Five Bells country pub, a convenience store, two hairdressers and a beauty therapy centre as well as a pharmacy and post office. The village hall is regularly used by many local organisations, including the local theatre company, the Horticultural Society and health and fitness classes. The Eastry primary school is very good and nearby is the renowned Northbourne prep school while, for older children there is the well-respected Sir Roger Manwood grammar school in Sandwich with Canterbury, Thanet and Dover offering top class public schools as well as additional excellent grammar schools. If any family members are interested in equine activities there is the local Castle Stud providing training and livery services plus there are off road bridle paths and a riding shop in the village. While the White Mill veterinary practice is only about three miles away. Although it has all the advantages of country living the property is not far from the medieval Cinque Port town of Sandwich with its mainline high speed train that can whisk you to St Pancras in under an hour and a half. Sandwich also includes a vast array of fascinating medieval properties, individual shops, restaurants and bars. Golfing enthusiasts can indulge their passion as Sandwich is the 'Mecca' for golf with the championship courses at Royal St Georges and Princes Golf Club, while water sport aficionados can join the Sandwich Bay Sailing and Motorboat Club or the Sandwich Bay Sailing and Water Ski club.

Seaside house with garden and terrace Deal (United Kingdom)
We were the first public owners of a property on this site back in 1998 and have thoroughly enjoyed living here ever since. It is a wonderful family home and, as it is in a cul-de-sac, it is very safe for children and pets and virtually all the houses near ours have been family homes with kids providing a very friendly community. During our time here we have put in new bathrooms and the kitchen but still kept all the historic period features that give it such a great character. The property is in a wonderful location as we are only a very short distance from the seafront and some useful local shops along the Strand where you will find the bandstand and the Downs Sailing Club and where regular events are held. We can walk into Deal town centre in about 10 minutes and enjoy the wonderful shops, restaurants, seafront and famous pier as well as the Saturday market, while Tides swimming pool complex is not far away. The fast train from the mainline station at Walmer can whisk you to London in under an hour and a half, and excellent educational facilities are available in the vicinity. These include the Kingsdown and Ringwould Primary school rated Outstanding by Ofsted as well as first class grammar and private schools in Dover, Sandwich and Canterbury. There are the Kingsdown and Walmer and the Royal Cinque Ports golf clubs for golfing enthusiasts and, if you want to go slightly further afield, there is also the championship course at Royal St George's as well as Princes while other sports clubs include rugby and bowls.
