House with gardenLa Cerlangue (76)
A building dating from the sixteenth century and with a high quality architecture that was the subject of a very respectful restoration in 1969.
The facades are half-timbered with half-timbering that is characteristic of the Pays de Caux : tightly packed vertical posts, few oblique scarves, all located in the level of the upstairs band, white whitewash as a finishing touch to the infill. On the south façade, the first floor is corbelled on a bed base, with an exceptional half-timbering detail, which denotes the importance of this rural house when it was built.
The heritage character of this thatched cottage is officially recognized since it is mentioned in the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage, Mérimée Architecture database, of the Ministry of Culture.
The heritage interest of this house also lies in the proximity of the Church of La Cerlangue, a thirteenth century building classified as a Historic Monument, whose stone bell tower is visible from the house and its garden.
The ground floor consists of an entrance hall, a living room with a magnificent carved stone fireplace, a dining room opening onto a winter garden (unheated veranda), a fitted and equipped kitchen, a scullery and a toilet.
Halfway upstairs, a bedroom and its shower room. On the first floor, 4 bedrooms, 1 office, a bathroom and a shower room and on the top floor a large attic suite with bathroom and small attic.
A typical example of a thatched cottage in the Pays de Caux which is now used as a bed and breakfast.A beautiful garden surrounds the thatched cottage with an outbuilding and a garage.
