On General Castaños street, in the heart of the Las Salesas neighborhood, this residence occupies the third floor of a classic 1900 building, with an original double-door elevator restored. The interior design is signed by Jacques Grange, a French decorator known for interiors that seem to have been built over time: artisanal craft, noble materials, and a mix of references that never feel forced. Here, that sensibility translates into a serene interpretation of French style, present in every detail without imposing itself. From a spacious foyer, the house is organized into two distinct living areas. The day area revolves around the living room, which overlooks the Plaza de la Villa de París through three balconies, and a library-office that invites lingering. The kitchen, separated by an iron and glass enclosure, is conceived as a gathering space: fully equipped, with a central dining table and tiled shelves. The night area, more private, is announced by the wallpaper in the hallway. Each bedroom has its own character: one enveloped in wood on walls and furniture, with an adjacent full bathroom; another with an en-suite bathroom; and the master, lined with textile herringbone-patterned wallpaper continuing into the wardrobes, with an en-suite bathroom featuring a classic bathtub, designed for retreat.Wooden moldings on door frames and individually selected hardware pieces complete the project. The home has underfloor heating and ducted air conditioning, with independent controls for the day and night areas.A residence where Madrid architecture and French sensibility find their own language, built from materials, proportion, and the passage of time.
