The architectural complex Bragadiru Palace dates back to the dawn of the 20th century, in full Belle Époque. The whole domain is named after its founder, Dumitru Marinescu Bragadiru (1842-1915). An emblematic figure for the city, he started from a poor family of workers and became Europe's third industrialist at the beginning of the 20th century. With a spectacular ballroom, which can also function as a theater or concert hall, a library, a bowling alley, numerous rooms, shops and offices that operated on the ground floor, the Palace combines the styles of the most famous buildings of the time: the Chamber of Commerce, The Romanian Post Office, The House of Savings and Consignments (CEC) and the building of the Supreme Court of Justice, all built in the same period. In June 1948, the family's property is confiscated, and the Palace becomes the Lenin Culture House of district 5 and functions under this purpose until 1989. After the fall of the communist regime, it is completely neglected, until 2003, when it is returned to the rightful owners, Dumitru Marinescu Bragadiru’s descendants, who manage to restore the former building from ruins. Bragadiru Palace is one of the most imposing buildings of Bucharest of all time. Today, it is an elegant location, which hosts private events, from wedding ceremonies to birthday parties, personal or corporate. Developed in the distinguished Primăverii quarter, the project has a B+GF+4F+5Fstepped-back structure. The 35 exclusive apartments benefit from 70 parking lots, underground and over-ground. The project is planned to be delivered in 2020. Primãverii neighbourhood was designed in the 30s by Octav Doicescu (1902-1981), one of the most important Romanian architects in the interwar period. Here lived King Carol II of Romania with Elena Lupescu, until 1940. During the communist period, the neighbourhood was chosen as a residential area for the nomenclature of the time and became the Forbidden Quarter - the access was allowed only to the residents. The intense activity of the area has lead to the development of this property as a real business center of those times. The area limited by Calea Victoriei, Regina Elisabeta Boulevard (as called today) and Cișmigiu Park included the offices of the most important press offices and printing houses in the country, such as Adevărul or Universul. The latter has established its headquarters into another impressive building signed by Arch. Paul Smărăndescu at 23 Brezoianu St.. In the same time, the importance of the district has driven the erecting of the Palatul Telefoanelor, 1931-1933, being the first major modernist building in town, only few steps away from 7 Matei Millo St. The '30 years represented a consolidation period for the notoriety of the building from 7 Matei Millo St. as a true business center with occupants such as the Letea Paper Factory, an advertising agency (Rador Orient Radio), a tiles factory (Salzberg&Gronen), the Brătianu Wines, the Bukarest Post Newspaper, as well as the offices of various free lancers such as engineers and doctors. Although along time the area has changes its occupants, still, the location in the heart of Bucharest has allowed it to maintain its attractivity over years. Universul Palace has been consolidated and became a hub with tenants from various creative industries.
