House with terraceVentabren (13)

Contemporary architecture, this characterful all-wood house harmoniously develops its 80 m2 on two levels in the heart of a landscaped 586 m2 plot in the village of Ventabren, on the edge of a wooded plot and just a few minutes from Aix-en-Provence.A balanced blend of Nordic and Japanese inspiration, the house is clad in vertical grey Douglas fir cladding and opens onto the surrounding landscape. Designed by the architectural firm Atelier Ordinaire in 2017, in close collaboration with designer Alexandre Reignier, it has been thought through down to the smallest detail. Its clean lines highlight the volumes, and the openings treat the landscape as a tableau. The interior is finished in a single-material, light-colored wood that gives the place a warm, luxurious simplicity. On the garden level, the large living area features a kitchen adjoining the dining table, while the living room elements are grouped around the wood-burning stove, which is sufficient to heat the entire house. The bathroom is an exception, with colored cement tiles on the floor. The first floor comprises two bedrooms, whose storage units blend in with the pine walls, and a study/playroom area with a wooden bench nestled in front of a large square opening that invites you to relax. A staircase, cleverly cut into the thickness of the wooden wall, leads to a small additional bedroom, designed as a perched cabin.Outside, the original slope of the land has been terraced into 3 mineral restanques that are home to beautiful species of vegetation. The chosen olive trees are over a hundred and a thousand years old! A wooden terrace adjoining the house preserves the intimacy of an outdoor living and dining area, thanks to a pretty planted screen. Two outdoor parking spaces complete this property. Luxury, calm and simplicity: an aesthetic, gentle and ecological cocoon.
