According to the National Register of Historic Places, this distinguished Main Street residence was built by Lieutenant Colonel John Hulbert between 1780 and 1790. Over the centuries the home has evolved, and more recently underwent a comprehensive restoration and redesign that thoughtfully preserves its history while introducing a refined modern sensibility. Set privately back from Main Street, the residence is approached by a broad wraparound covered porch and unfolds across three levels of beautifully finished living space. Generous bedroom suites are joined by a dramatic great room and an expansive kitchen with a substantial center island, creating an easy flow for both everyday living and entertaining. Glass doors open to a lush and private rear garden, where mature Japanese maples frame a 40-foot gunite pool and spa, expansive bluestone terraces, an outdoor fireplace, lawn and outdoor shower. A legal guest house adds another layer of flexibility and privacy for guests or extended stays. A remarkable combination of architectural history, scale and modern comfort, all just a short walk from Sag Harbor Village's shops, restaurants and waterfront.
