Manor Fougeres (35)
A 17th-century chateau listed as a historical monument with outhouses and over seven hectares of grounds, nestled between Rennes and Mont-Saint-Michel. Country lanes wind through farmland and woods to join a cul-de-sac that leads to the property. Beyond the entrance gate, a driveway leads to the chateau. A chapel stands beside this driveway. The chateau towers over a French formal garden. A pond lies on the far side of this garden. The chateau dates back to the 17th century. It has a basement, a semibasement, a raised ground floor, a first floor, a second floor and a third floor. The edifice is listed as a historical monument. It looks out at its grounds, which extend all the way around the chateau and cover more than seven hectares. The chateau’s elevations are made of dressed stone. The building is made up of three asymmetrical sections. It stands in front of a main courtyard. A monumental double flight of steps marks the central section. A bell-shaped slate roof caps this central section. This majestic roof is adorned with a bull’s-eye window and underlined with modillions. A double-level roof lantern crowns the bell-shaped roof. Square slate tiles cover the roof lantern’s lower level and scale-shaped slate tiles cover its upper level. The roof lantern culminates in a finial. The edifice’s two other sections have hipped slate roofs. These hipped roofs are steep-sloped and are also underlined with modillions. Pediments with mouldings cap the windows. A broken arched pediment with a bull’s-eye window in the middle crowns the main entrance door. The facade faces east. It is bathed in natural light as soon as the sun rises. The sun then illuminates the other elevations throughout the day. At the back, there is a rear court edged by a south wing, an annexe and an orangery. At a lower level, there is an orchard and a swimming pool with a pool house. Woods complete the property. They form an enclosure around some sides of the property, which covers over seven hectares in total.

The Mellinger Real Estate Agency presents to you, between Brittany and Normandy, in a typical village near Fougères, this very lovely presbytery constructed in the second half of the 16th century, altered in the 17th and 18th centuries. A building, flanked on the garden side by a tower housing a remarkable spiral staircase. A beautiful registered entrance, with a sculpted frame from the 16th century, under the watchful eye of a face carved in stone, opens onto the spaces of the ground floor. It leads us into authentic and warm places where granite fireplaces with elaborately worked jambs dominate, while shaped corbels reinforce the character of the construction. This street entrance gives access to a lovely living room with a stove in a large stone fireplace, a fitted and equipped kitchen. At the bottom of the spiral staircase, in the tower, a hallway allows, just like the other rooms on the same level, access to the garden. The granite emphasizes the strength of the lines of the presbytery, its thick stone walls adorn the spaces. On the first floor, a room accommodates a wooden staircase leading to a small attic bedroom located on the second floor. An office, a shower room. A large bedroom with an impressive granite fireplace whose old floor warms the mineral. On the second floor, a landing leads to a bathroom and an attic bedroom. A village garden by the tower, enclosed, hosts a charming little outbuilding. The presbytery is an ideal hub to discover Mont Saint MICHEL, Saint Malo, Vitré, Fougères, Rennes and many other precious places to visit and enjoy. Here and there are a few fruit trees. Two gates lead to each garden. The total surface area is 2,457 m², which is a significant area for a town centre, in a quiet location with no major neighbours. All of this exudes a good atmosphere; it is a beautiful place. The only outbuildings are a modest shed. As you will have realised, this is a property for family, professional or mixed use, given the layout of the property and its location.
