Manor Dinan (22)
A 16th century manor with outbuildings on a 58-hectare estate In the Côtes-d'Armor area, near to the medieval town of Dinan. Two granite pillars mark the entrance to the estate and a long drive of more than 300 metres in length leads up to the manor. On either side, thick woodlands of deciduous and coniferous trees offer natural protection to the residence, shielding it from prying eyes. Spread over almost 58 hectares, the estate includes: a landscaped ornamental garden around the manor, the manor itself, the outbuildings of a former farm building, a dovecote, barns, an old walled garden and pavilions at the northeast and southeast corners. The rest is made up of fields, woodland and heath. The estate dates back to the 15th century, but the manor was rebuilt in the 16th century, as shown by a number of remains, including a door engraved with a fleur-de-lys, an outworked tower with a spiral staircase and a modillion cornice. The building was transformed in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is laid out in an inverted T-shape facing south and has three storeys: a ground floor, a square first floor and an attic level. The building is built out of rough-hewn blocks of granite as well as quoins plus window and door frames made of ashlar and is topped by a gabled slate roof with four hipped dormer windows. The northern façade is flanked by the tower topped with a hexagonal slate sprocket roof, alternating straight tiles with scale-shaped tiles. It is adjacent to a wing made of dressed granite stone built during the 20th century.
