A confession of 1523 by Loys Aymar de Sazilly to the Lord of Ile-Bouchard mentions a fortified castle whose construction could date back to the 12th century. No trace of the fortifications remains, except in the cellars; the moat was filled in shortly before the Revolution. The present dwelling dates in part from the 15th century; it is flanked on the east by a polygonal staircase tower whose door was remodelled in the 16th century.
