What the Owners Say: We moved here in 2014 and have loved living here and are only moving as we are starting a new chapter in our lives. We originally bought the bungalow because we felt the location was absolutely ideal as we feel we are in the country with Blean woods behind us and woodland in front but, at the same time, it is only a short distance to the centre of Chestfield and not far to Whitstable.The area is very quiet and peaceful and, as it is on a private ‘no through’ road, it is very safe for children and pets and if you have horsey interests there is a livery stables opposite. There are plenty of lovely places to go for walks on the nearby footpaths as well as along the Crab and Winkle Way. Chestfield is a friendly village and includes the Chestfield Golf Club as well as the cricket club and if you want to go out for a drink or a meal locally there is the 14th century Chestfield Barn bar and restaurant.Both Chestfield and Swalecliff and Whitstable stations are under a mile away and, while a train journey to London from Canterbury is faster, the train from Whitstable can whisk to London in an hour and a quarter.  We are also only a short distance from the Thanet Way and Dover and Folkestone are within easy reach for trips to the Continent. While there are a number of good and outstanding primary schools in the area.Whitstable is nearby with its bars, restaurants, individual shops, station and historic harbour and we are only five miles from the UNESCO city of Canterbury with its heritage buildings, high street stores, pubs and eateries as well as top class private and grammar schools, three universities and a station where trains to London take less than an hour.

This fascinating period home has been in our family since the 1970s so I have spent many happy years here but I now feel it is time to move nearer to my children. I really liked the light and airy atmosphere of the house when I first opened the front door and then walking through and seeing the river and the views over to Solly’s that almost seem as though the park was actually in the back garden, I knew this was the place for me. I also like the kitchen because everything is easily to hand as it was originally designed by a previous owner Audrey Eyton – author of the F-plan diet. While when I close the curtains to the conservatory in the evenings, I find the sitting area very warm and cosy. As I thought I would be living here for the foreseeable future, I have had the flat roofs over the conservatory and the kitchen replaced but sadly I am having to move for health reasons. The location is also wonderful as I can stroll to the city centre om just a few minutes and meet friends and family for a coffee or visit the nearby Marlowe theatre without needing to take the car or even get on a bus. We moved here from London in 2009 as we wanted a family home close to Canterbury and good schools but providing us with a countryside feel and plenty of space for our growing family. The property was built in the 1950s and not much had been done since then in terms of updating it until we moved here. So we extended the property and completely refurbished it with a new kitchen, bathrooms and added the second floor. When we came here, we were not gardeners but our time spent in this lovely home has encouraged our ‘green fingers’ and we have thoroughly enjoyed creating the delightful garden and kitchen garden you see today.We love being so close to Canterbury city centre with its high street stores, individual shops, restaurants and bars as well as the cinemas, two theatres and a plethora of historic buildings. At the same time we can just as easily be walking in the nearby orchards or local countryside. The city includes a leisure centre, golf course and the Polo Farm sports club as well a wide variety of excellent state and private schools as well as three universities.  As Canterbury is a university city, there are plenty of activities geared to young people and we always felt our teenage children were in a safe environment if they were out with friends.

We moved here from the Maldives some 20 years ago and it has been a truly special family home and we shall be sad to leave but it is time for us to downsize. We are also not far from the coast at Whitstable or the Thanet towns for a day on the beach while nearby Rough Common includes a convenience store and a post office.The historic city of Canterbury includes some impressive UNESCO heritage site buildings, a variety of high street stores and individual shops as well as a plethora of restaurants, pubs and three theatres including the Marlowe where you can regularly see West End shows. There are three universities in the city as well as excellent grammar schools and top class private schools, while nearby Blean primary school is rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

This has been a wonderful holiday home for us for the past 10 years. There is nothing better than arriving here on a Friday evening after a busy week and being able to relax and enjoy the views. We are just across the road from steps down to the fantastic Blue Flag West Bay and in the summer months we spend as much time enjoying the beach as possible.During our time here we have update and extended the property to create the amazing home you see today, which is just ready for new owners to walk into and not have to do anything except install their furniture. We also designed it to be very low maintenance and is very much a ‘lock up and go’ house if you want it as a holiday home, but it can equally well be a very special permanent home for a large family revelling in the location.Westgate is a lovely seaside town and the station is within easy walking distance with the fast train to London taking just over an hour and a half. Westgate is also a very friendly community with a village like atmosphere. It has some charming and individual shops including a unique parade of individual canopied shops and cafes as well as an excellent and inexpensive cinema, a golf course and  some very good restaurants in the vicinity including the Michelin recommended Quince. The Blue Flag beaches at West Bay and St Mildreds are wonderful for walking the dogs in the winter and swimming in the summer and, if you enjoy cycling, there are a number of excellent routes including part or all of the 32 mile stretch of coastline from Ramsgate to Reculver via the Viking Coastal Trail.There are also two very good secondary schools in the area as well as a number of well-respected primary schools with grammar and private schools available in Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Canterbury. Road links are very good with access to the Thanet Way for Canterbury and London while, for more in depth retail therapy and entertainment, there is the Westwood Cross shopping centre with its plethora of high street stores and restaurants, casino and bingo hall.

We moved here because we fell in love with this charming property and also because it is extremely quiet and peaceful but we are now starting a new chapter in our lives.The village of Adisham includes a primary school that was rated Outstanding by Ofsted and a railway station with trains to Canterbury, Dover and London and we are only a couple of miles from Gibsons excellent food hall, farm shop and cafe.It is only a short drive along a country lane to the village of Bridge, which has a variety of useful shops including a small supermarket, post office and chemist. This has been a wonderful seaside home for the past 14 years and, during our time here, we have enjoyed upgrading the property and creating the charming garden. We love the area and will continue to live nearby but we feel it is time to downsize. The location is wonderful with direct access to the clifftop and the friendly beach that the grandchildren love. It also has a slipway so you can launch a boat and the vast grassy clifftop is ideal for a brisk walk with the dog or a cycle ride.Westgate town centre is nearby with its unique parade of individual, canopied shops as well as a variety of restaurants including the Michelin recommended Quince. What the Owners Say: This has been a wonderful home for the past 12 years and it will be a sad wrench to leave but I feel it is time to move nearer to my children. I love the surroundings, the peace and quiet and the charm of the cottage and its gorgeous garden. Over the years we have sensitively modernised the property but still retained all the features that give it such a special character. Although it is surrounded by countryside it is not isolated as there are other properties nearby and Chartham village is only half a mile away.It includes a good primary school, recreation ground, two convenience stores, post office and hairdresser as well as the Local and Artichoke pubs, the station where trains to London take around an hour and a half and the Chartham Vinery. We moved here about seven years ago as we love the peace and tranquility and the wonderful views. During our time here we have completely renovated and extended the property to create the gorgeous family home you see today. We converted the garage into the games room and added extra rooms including the first floor sitting room and wonderful roof terrace.The house looks amazing dressed overall at Christmastime and we have even put a table tennis table in the games room so we could seat 20 people for Christmas lunch.
