The location is wonderful as it is great for hiking and there is fishing available nearby as well as two pubs that both serve excellent food and a teashop in the village if you want to enjoy time out. While the nearby and equally picturesque historic medieval Cinque Port town of Rye, with its half-timbered houses and cobbled lanes, was known as ‘the prettiest town in England.’ It was once one of England’s most important ports as it was originally surrounded by sea before the area was drained and became Romney Marsh. This medieval fortified town is where the River Rother and River Brede meet and creates a harbour for fishing boats while Ypres Tower with its museum still looks out towards the sea. This vibrant market town is now home to a myriad of smart restaurants, pubs, independent shops and historic buildings as well as a Grade II Listed station. There is the Aquarium and Adventure golf as well as a trip on the miniature railway in Hastings and Camber Sands offers large sandy beaches and kite flying, impressive indoor swimming pools and an activity centre while a guided walk around Rye provides a fascinating insight into the origins of this area. If you want to go slightly further afield there is Pevensey Bay where William the Conqueror landed or Battle Abbey where the famous battle actually took place but for something a little more cultural there is always the iconic Art Deco De La  Warr pavilion in Bexhill with its myriad of theatrical shows, art gallery and art based activities.

House Ashford (United Kingdom)

When we bought the property some eight years ago it was in a somewhat tired state and we have thoroughly enjoyed redesigning and refurbishing it from top to bottom. We love it here because it is quiet and peaceful and the countryside views are stunning, but we have decided to look for another project and hope that new owners will take pleasure in everything we have done to create a beautiful country residence, whether as a permanent home or a lovely weekend and holiday country retreat.Although we live in the country we are not isolated as it is only half a mile to the quintessential village of Aldington where you will find a 12th century church and the Walnut Tree pub, a good primary school and a tennis club plus an excellent deli store and a post office. You can appreciate just how popular Aldington is from the number of celebrities who have called this village their home. These include Noel Coward and Bill Deedes as well as Paul O’Grady, Julian Clary and Vic Reeves while Noel Redding, who was bass player for the Jimmy Hendrix Experience, was a previous owner of our house. If you carry on along our lane in the other direction you will come to the Evegate business park which includes a delightful café/deli, The Dog House micropub, a beauty salon and a variety of artisan shops including clothes and jewellery. The lane leads on to the A20 for access to the M20 for London and the Channel Tunnel as well as nearby Ashford where the high speed train from Ashford International can whisk you to London in 37 minutes. The town also includes restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets as well as the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet showcasing numerous well known clothing brand shops. With regard to education there are other primary schools in nearby villages as well as two good academies in the town and the independent Ashford School while grammar schools are available in Folkestone and Canterbury which is also where you will find first class independent schools.

Property with garden Marden (United Kingdom)

What the owners say: We bought this beautiful oast about three years ago as we loved the location and with a idea that it would be our ‘forever’ home and we refurbished and extended it accordingly including purchasing additional land. Unfortunately, circumstances have meant we are not able to stay here so we hope new owners will appreciate that we have done to make the whole place something really special. While we have focused on the house, garden and outdoor leisure facilities there is plenty if scope for another family to renovate the stable block and develop the outbuildings. It would seem from initial discussions that these buildings could be converted into holiday lets but possibly they could also become homes for other family members or offices for anyone who works from home but doesn’t want to be disturbed and needs access for business visitors. While if new owners have horses or other livestock the buildings could be used by grooms or other staff. While the property is in the countryside we are not isolated as the delightful village of Staplehurst is nearby and Marden is not much further. Staplehurst includes a convenience store, a garden centre, pubs and restaurants as well as a primary school, golf, cricket and tennis clubs and nearby is the famous Sissinghurst Gardens. Marden is a thriving village of Marden with a Michelin recommended restaurant and a country gastropub as well as a primary school and the Leigh Academy secondary school, a cricket and hockey club, a junior football team as well as the bowls club and the village club which hosts various activities. Both Staplehurst and Marden have mainline stations with trains to London Bridge taking much less than an hour. Excellent additional education facilities are available in the nearby towns including a variety of first-class grammar and private prep and secondary schools in Cranbrook, Benenden, Maidstone, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge where you will also find high street stores, independent shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cinemas and theatres.

House with garden and terrace Canterbury (United Kingdom)

We moved here about seven years ago as we love the peace and tranquility and the wonderful views. During our time here we have completely renovated and extended the property to create the gorgeous family home you see today. We converted the garage into the games room and added extra rooms including the first floor sitting room and wonderful roof terrace. The house looks amazing dressed overall at Christmastime and we have even put a table tennis table in the games room so we could seat 20 people for Christmas lunch. Although the gardens are quite large, they are easy to manage as we use a robot mower that wanders around all day keeping the grass well-manicured. While we love this house, we are moving to be nearer other family members and hope new owners will enjoy everything about this wonderful home.Although we are surrounded by the Kent countryside we are not far from Canterbury and Ashford. It is also only a three minute drive or a 20 minute walk to Chilham which includes two pubs and a good primary school plus free parking at its mainline station with access to high speed trains to London taking less than an hour.Chilham is probably one of the most beautiful villages in the South East of England with its 16th century black and white houses, The White Horse Inn and tea rooms surrounding the delightful village square. This also has gated access to Chilham castle which was destroyed except for the impressive Medieval Keep and was replaced by a magnificent Jacobean mansion set in 25 acres of delightful gardens and 300 acres of park and woodland. This was created by a number of famous designers including Capability Brown and now features an international cross country course. You will also find the excellent Badgers farm shop and cidery as well as Bagham Barn Antiques. The nearby historic city of Canterbury includes a plethora of ancient buildings, lovely pubs, restaurants and two theatres as well as a variety of high street stores and independent shops, recreational facilities such as a golf course and sports centres and two mainline stations. It also has excellent grammar schools as well as top class public schools and three universities.
