Equestrian sport plays a major role here since the town hosts Europe’s larges racehorse training centre. Nearly 3,000 horses are put through their paces here every day.
The Chantilly racetrack holds prestige races each year including the Prix de Diane Hermès, and in the regional nature park, tracks for hunting with hounds compete with golf courses.
Whether in the middle of this park, near the Château or the racetrack, the real estate comes in an outstanding setting. “Look at the Lys private domain with its 1,300 or more houses and an 18-hole golf course,” says Marc Foujols, who has his own agency. “You can still find building land for €400,000 or residences for between €800,000 and 900,000. Outside the town, properties are priced at around €1.2 million for 300 to 400 sq. m., with a pool and tennis court.”
In the Chantilly forest, you can still find properties appointed for horse lovers, such as this 500 sq. m., stonebuilt residence with an open view, set in a 5 hectare park which went for €2.5 million. A dozen kilometres to the east, Senlis is a listed town of art and history, which has inherited the same qualities as neighbouring Chantilly. In the protected town centre, town houses offer an outstanding situation and exposure and high potential.
“The rare properties that come onto the market negotiate at around €1 to 1.5 million,” warns Marc Foujols. Further to the north around Aumont-en- Halatte, it is also possible to find ancient stone-built residences of over 250 sq. m. on 1,000 sq. m. of land.
“For €500,000 to 700,000, they offer a lot of potential in a preserved setting near Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport and the main motorways,” notes Marc Foujols.
