A villa designed by Jacques Couëlle facing the Mediterranean. Built in 1961 on the old terraces of the Castellaras estate, below the castle, the villa was drawn by architect Jacques Couëlle. Originally envisioned for the Aga Khan, it reflects his conception of architecture, based on adapting volumes to the landscape and rejecting strictly geometric lines. Oriented to the south, the house follows the slope of the land, which it connects to a series of terraces, walls, and stone pathways. From the wrought iron gate, a few steps lead through a Mediterranean garden planted with cypress trees, oleander, and shrubs. The residence gradually reveals itself, around the bends of the paths and different levels of the garden. Its architecture is characterized by a succession of rounded volumes, with thick walls covered in a light and irregular coating. The facades create continuous curves, punctuated by arched openings of varying sizes. The tiled roofs are at different heights. The layout of the building on the slope allows for multiple access points, from the lower parts of the garden as well as from the upper terraces. Inside, the spaces are organized over three levels, around a large double-height living room and a monumental staircase.
