House with pool and garden Leicester (United Kingdom)

A Landmark Private Residence on Knighton Grange Road, Oadby For sale by Harry Singh of Fine & Country, this exceptional detached residence occupies a private plot of nearly 1.8 acres on one of Oadby’s most prestigious roads. Accessed via a double-gated private driveway, with electric gates and intercom to the front, the home immediately conveys a sense of arrival, privacy and quiet grandeur. Set behind mature trees, sweeping driveway space and landscaped grounds, the property is an extraordinary family residence with approximately 16,839 sq ft of accommodation, extensive garaging, workshops and outbuildings. The home is arranged in distinct wings, making it particularly well suited to large families, multi-generational living, entertaining and those seeking a lifestyle property of true substance. The property is a genuinely rare fusion of two distinct architectural chapters: a beautifully designed contemporary wing, conceived and built by the current owners circa 1995, wrapped harmoniously around a Grade II Listed rear wing — formerly Knighton Grange Farm — whose original stone and character lend this home a depth and provenance that no new build could ever replicate. Together, they form a seamless whole: a private estate of extraordinary scale, sophistication, and soul. The Main Entrance & Central Hall Entry is through a grand front door of real presence — a fitting introduction to everything that follows. The house opens into a magnificent entrance hallway, where marble flooring with underfloor heating creates an immediate feeling of elegance. A large glazed frontage draws natural light deep into the home, while the central staircase rises beautifully ahead, splitting at the landing with marble steps and solid oak beyond. This central hall acts as the heart of the house, connecting the principal reception rooms, family living areas, guest wing and indoor swimming pool complex. A cloakroom and study are positioned nearby, providing everyday convenience and a quiet place to work from home. The Front Reception Wing To the right of the entrance hall is a superb principal lounge, a wonderfully impressive yet comfortable room with air conditioning and a decked balcony overlooking the front pond. This is a room designed for calm, conversation and evening light, with the balcony creating a peaceful outlook across the private frontage. Also accessed from the main hallway is a formal dining room with underfloor heating and direct garden access. Elegant and generously proportioned, it is perfectly suited to family celebrations, dinner parties and more formal entertaining. The Kitchen, Dining & Family Wing The open-plan kitchen and dining area forms the natural everyday heart of the home. Substantial in scale and beautifully connected to both the gardens and swimming pool area, it is designed for family life on a grand level. The kitchen features timber base and wall units, tiled flooring with underfloor heating, a large central island with gas hob, fitted appliances including double oven and grill, dishwasher, and generous work surfaces. A large window frames views over the garden, while doors lead directly to the swimming pool area and to the rear garden from the dining space. From the kitchen, a family snug provides a warm and relaxed living space, complete with underfloor heating and air conditioning. This is ideal for informal evenings, children’s television, or quiet moments away from the larger reception rooms. Further along this wing are highly practical supporting spaces including a utility room, WC, storage room and art room, giving the home excellent day-to-day functionality. The Guest & Leisure Wing To the left of the main entrance hall, a separate guest reception area opens into a generous guest lounge with air conditioning and a bar area. This wing has a wonderful sense of independence, making it ideal for visiting family, older children, guests or live-in support. From the guest lounge, stairs lead up to the self-contained first-floor guest accommodation. Beyond the lounge are two changing rooms serving the swimming pool, each with its own shower, WC and underfloor heating. Further along, the accommodation continues into a cinema room and then a large gym and games room. With independent access to the car porch, this area offers excellent flexibility and could be adapted further to create annexe-style accommodation, subject to any necessary consents. The Indoor Swimming Pool Complex At the centre of the home is a spectacular heated indoor swimming pool, one of the property’s defining lifestyle features. The whole house appears to revolve around this exceptional space, with doors connecting it to the kitchen wing, guest wing, main hallway and rear courtyard. The pool area is fully enclosed, underfloor heated and offers generous relaxation space around the poolside. The heated pool also features a counter-current swim system, allowing one to swim against the current for exercise and training. Whether used for fitness, family enjoyment or entertaining, this is a rare and luxurious addition that elevates the home far beyond the ordinary. First Floor – Principal Family Bedroom Wing The central staircase rises to a dramatic galleried landing, with a large window overlooking the swimming pool area. From here, the first floor divides naturally into two wings. To the right is the principal family bedroom wing, comprising five bedrooms. The master bedroom suite is a substantial private retreat, featuring a dressing room, modern en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower, and a balcony overlooking the front pond. Three further bedrooms are generous doubles and benefit from their own en-suite facilities, while the fifth bedroom is also well proportioned and served by a family bathroom. Bedrooms two, three, four and five benefit from air conditioning, enhancing comfort throughout the warmer months. A secondary staircase from this wing leads back down towards the kitchen hallway, creating a practical and convenient flow through the house. First Floor – Self-Contained Guest Wing To the left of the galleried landing is the self-contained guest accommodation, overlooking the guest hall below. This area includes an open-plan kitchen and lounge, guest bedroom accommodation and dressing space. There is also access down to the guest lounge below, allowing the wing to function independently from the main family bedrooms. This arrangement is ideal for extended family, guests, teenagers, staff accommodation or those seeking a more independent living space within the home. Outside, Grounds & Outbuildings The property sits centrally within nearly 1.8 acres, with gardens, driveway space and mature planting wrapping around the house to create a wonderful sense of privacy. To the front, electric gates with intercom open to a sweeping private driveway, with a lawned area to one side and a pond feature overlooked by the balcony from the main lounge and principal bedroom suite. There is also provision for water and electricity to create a central fountain feature on the main drive, should a future owner wish to further enhance the approach. A second gated access leads to extensive side parking, a patio area, additional lawn and a tarmac driveway running towards the rear outbuildings. The outbuildings wrap around the property and include two double garages with electric shutters, a large workshop with WC, storage areas and further useful spaces. These buildings offer exceptional flexibility for car collectors, business owners, hobbyists or those requiring substantial secure storage. To the rear is a large vegetable garden area, while the gardens continue around the right-hand side of the property towards the front. Mature trees, established hedging and shrubbery provide privacy and a beautiful green backdrop throughout the seasons. A fully paved enclosed courtyard sits to the rear of the pool area, offering a sheltered sun trap and superb entertaining space. Large double doors connect this courtyard to the car porch, with access also to the boiler room. Location Knighton Grange Road is one of Oadby’s most sought-after residential addresses, known for substantial private homes, mature surroundings and excellent access to local amenities. Oadby itself offers a superb range of shops, cafés, restaurants, schools, leisure facilities and everyday conveniences, while nearby Stoneygate, Knighton and Leicester city centre provide further lifestyle and professional amenities. The area is particularly well regarded by families, with access to highly respected schooling, open green spaces, golf clubs, the University of Leicester Botanic Garden and Leicester Racecourse. House with terrace Faringdon (United Kingdom)

A distinguished Grade II listed Georgian house of exceptional scale and character, thoughtfully enhanced for modern living, with beautifully landscaped south-west facing gardens and a superbly converted coach house. Occupying an elevated position beside the 12th-century All Saints Church, Astley House is a notable period residence dating from circa 1720. Once the Dower House to Faringdon House and later the town’s Vicarage, it retains a refined Georgian appearance, with sash windows, dormers and deep coved eaves, alongside later architectural detailing including Roman Doric columns. The property is approached from the market square through gates opening onto a gravelled forecourt, with stone steps rising to the original front entrance. This leads into a grand reception hall, where an early 18th-century staircase forms an impressive centrepiece. The principal reception rooms are elegant and well-proportioned. A superb drawing room enjoys high ceilings, intricate cornicing, a feature fireplace and tall sash windows, creating a wonderfully light and formal space. Beyond the hall lies the dining room, ideal for entertaining, while a generous study provides an additional reception room, well suited to home working. A utility room is also located on this level, and beneath the house a substantial wine cellar is accessed from the main hall. The evolution of Astley House has been carefully considered, most notably in the exceptional conversion of the former coach house. Accessed via an additional reception room and secondary hall – with ground floor WC – this part of the house opens into an outstanding kitchen/dining space extending to almost 480 sqft. beautifully designed with bespoke hand-built cabinetry and fully integrated appliances, it forms the true heart of the home, offering both scale and practicality for everyday living and entertaining. A bright conservatory to the rear enjoys direct access to the gardens, enhancing the connection between interior and exterior living. The converted coach house further benefits from underfloor heating at both ground and first floor levels, ensuring a high degree of comfort throughout. The first floor of the main house offers four well-proportioned double bedrooms, one with en suite facilities, all presented in a style sympathetic to the age and character of the house. A family bathroom, fitted with both bath and separate shower, serves the remaining rooms. Extending into the converted coach house at first floor level, a versatile studio or gym space provides excellent flexibility, equally suited as a home office or a private sitting room serving the principal suite. Beyond lies the principal suite, comprising a generous dressing area and a luxurious en suite bathroom with freestanding bath, separate shower and twin basins. The bedroom itself is particularly impressive, with dual aspect windows and an abundance of natural light. The second floor offers further adaptable accommodation, currently arranged as a large reception area, sixth bedroom, bathroom and additional storeroom. This level lends itself well to independent living and could be configured as a self-contained annexe, with scope to create further bedroom accommodation if required, subject to the usual consents. In total, the house extends to over 6,000 sqft, offering a rare combination of historic character and modern versatility. The property has also benefited from a comprehensive overhaul of the heating system, ensuring efficiency and comfort throughout. Externally, the gardens have been significantly enhanced and landscaped. The former swimming pool has been replaced with an expansive paved terrace, creating a private south-west facing sun trap ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining. The gardens are arranged over two levels, combining lawned areas with established planting and mature borders. A substantial double garage has been constructed, complete with EV charging, providing excellent parking and storage. The building also offers clear potential for the creation of a first-floor annexe, subject to the necessary consents. Astley House occupies a central yet discreet position within the heart of Faringdon, a historic market town well placed between Oxford and the rolling countryside of the Vale of White Horse and the Lambourn Downs. The town provides an excellent range of day-to-day amenities, centred around its historic Market Place, which hosts a weekly charter market and regular farmers’ markets. There is a good selection of independent shops alongside larger supermarkets, including a Waitrose, as well as a range of places to eat and drink. The Old Crown Coaching Inn, just a short walk from the front door, has been significantly improved in recent years and now operates as a well-regarded gastro pub, with a more formal ‘ballroom’ restaurant area. In addition, there are several other pubs within walking distance, along with a variety of convenient takeaway options. Leisure and cultural facilities are well catered for, with the Faringdon Leisure Centre offering a swimming pool and gym, while the Corn Exchange and Regent Cinema provide a programme of events and film screenings. The Faringdon Folly Tower and Woodland offer delightful walks and far-reaching views, while Folly Park includes recreational facilities such as a skate park and outdoor gym. The Pump House Project serves as a vibrant community arts and cultural hub. The area is particularly well regarded for schooling. St Hugh's School, located nearby, now offers education through to 16 from September 2026, while the highly regarded Abingdon School and Abingdon Preparatory School are also easily accessible. House with garden and terrace Newton Abbot (United Kingdom)

INTRODUCTION Little Wolleigh is anything but little. This Grade II listed, 16th-century farmhouse stands proudly within its grounds on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey, perfectly placed on the approach to Dartmoor National Park. A property of true character and substance, it was sympathetically extended in the 1930s, blending timeless period features with modern touches. Inside, the home offers six generous bedrooms and three reception rooms, creating versatile spaces for family living and entertaining. Set in just over 3 acres, the grounds are as enchanting as the house itself, with formal gardens, orchards, and woodland to explore. A range of outbuildings adds further appeal, including a detached barn with store and hayloft, a large greenhouse, a two-storey barn, and an additional barn—ideal for a variety of uses. While steeped in history, Little Wolleigh embraces modern sustainable living. A biomass boiler, solar thermal water system, and solar panels provide an impressive low-carbon footprint, plus fibre throughout the premises including the art studio, ensures this period gem remains as practical as it is picturesque. STEP INSIDE Approaching the house, you’re greeted by a substantial front door—likely original—set within a striking granite surround, a fine example of the history woven into this property. You enter into the dining room, where oak panelling sets a rich tone. From here, the accommodation flows into the living room, your eye immediately drawn to the impressive fireplace with large wood burner and parquet flooring. A third reception room showcases exposed wooden beams, adding to the farmhouse character. The layout is both generous and practical, with two staircases connecting the old and newer parts of the house. A large cloakroom/store and a utility room provide excellent everyday functionality. The kitchen is the heart of the home. Extended to create a luxurious cooking, dining, and entertaining space, it is designed with modern family life in mind. A box window overlooks the gardens, while French doors open onto a side patio leading to the greenhouse—perfect when cooking with fresh produce. A wood burner adds warmth and atmosphere in the cooler months. Refitted in 2021, the kitchen combines traditional charm with modern convenience, featuring wooden worktops, ample storage units, a twin butler sink, space for a fridge/freezer, an integrated dishwasher, and a large range oven (available by negotiation). From here, an inner hallway leads to a store room, door to the driveway and a sizeable utility room, perfectly suited to busy family living. Upstairs, the sense of space continues. The first floor is arranged across both the original farmhouse and the later extension, linked by a wide, light-filled landing with wooden floors. The principal bedroom is substantial, with built-in wardrobes and beautiful garden views. Its en-suite bathroom—also accessible from the landing—features a freestanding bath set before a picture window, a large walk-in shower, and charming curved walls, reflecting the property’s age and character. Bedrooms two and three, in the original part of the house, are generous doubles, while bedrooms four, five, and six all enjoy countryside views. A modern shower room completes the accommodation. SELLERS INSIGHT “When we first came to Little Wolleigh, we were looking for space, seclusion, and the freedom to live and work creatively. Having always lived with neighbours close by, we wanted somewhere private yet still near amenities—and this home gave us exactly that. The outbuilding has been the perfect art studio, while the extensive gardens have provided endless opportunities for our children and animals to grow, play, and explore. It feels so special that the house blends so naturally into the countryside; you’d hardly know it was here. There’s always a sunny spot to sit, and the orchard and trees have been a constant source of joy for us. We love being so close to the Moors—ideal for walking our dogs. The landscape is breathtaking in every season, from snowy winter walks to summer days on nearby beaches. The eco-friendly features have been a real benefit—our borehole, biomass boiler, and solar panels mean the house is comfortable all year round with a low environmental footprint. The flexible layout has worked brilliantly for us, with bedrooms swapping as the children grew, and plenty of space for guests who love having their own area. This home has been the backdrop to so many memories: hosting home education groups of 30–40 children, bird of prey camps, birthdays, and visits from local people who remember playing here in their childhood. There’s ample parking, excellent fibre connection (even in the studio), and the outbuildings have given us incredible opportunities for work and hobbies. We will especially miss the magnificent Copper Beech tree at the centre of the garden—it has always felt like the heart of this special place.” STEP OUTSIDE The grounds, extending to just over 3 acres, are nothing short of enchanting. A gardener’s dream, they are divided into distinct areas of interest, filled with fruit trees—The ancient orchard has dozens of apples, alongside pear, plum, quince and fig. A fenced enclosure is ideal for chickens or small livestock. In one direction lies the site of a former swimming pool, now reimagined with a thatched roof structure used as a seating area with patio space and box hedging, perfect for gatherings. Stone steps create a charming amphitheatre-style feature, which has been used for events such as home education groups. A bridge over a lily pond continues the journey through the grounds, with hedging marking the boundaries and ensuring privacy. The outbuildings are equally impressive. A large detached, listed barn with mezzanine (once a hayloft) and adjoining store offers huge versatility. A further outbuilding, currently used as a home office, enjoys triple-aspect windows and bifold doors, a cloakroom, and kitchenette—ideal for work or hobbies. A door leads to a store room housing the water filteration system and stairs to an attic room providing additional storage. Another barn houses the biomass boiler, alongside further store rooms, ideal as a workshop or home gym. A large greenhouse finishes the outbuildings, with a pump to regulate temperature it’s an ideal environment for home growing all year round. A formal garden with luscious lawn provides an idyllic area to enjoy the sunshine and views of the countryside surrounding the property. There is ample parking on the driveway with double gated access, plus further gated parking near the detached barn with access directly to the road; ideal for additional parking for visitors or parking a caravan/boat. Together, the house and grounds provide an exceptional balance of period charm, modern living, and sustainable practicality. House with garden and terrace Chesham (United Kingdom)

A Storied Past The site has a long-standing heritage, with records showing a windmill in the vicinity as early as the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1863, a smock mill was constructed by the Norwich Wind and Steam Company. However, it was short-lived and dismantled by 1883. Later that same year, a new masonry tower mill was built thought to be one of the last of its kind in England by Hillsdons of Tring, at a cost of ?300. The tall chimney associated with the steam-powered mill was removed shortly after, though the original flywheel from the steam engine has been thoughtfully preserved and now forms a striking feature in the dining room. The first known miller of the new tower mill was Daniel Dwight, succeeded by Thomas Robinson in 1891. Robinson, with experience in steam milling, continued operations until the mill ceased production in 1912. The property was then converted into a private residence the following year. Among the earliest residents were writer Gilbert Cannan and his wife Mary (formerly married to J.M. Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan). The Cannans hosted many notable guests connected to artistic circles such as the Bloomsbury Group and the London Group. Celebrated figures like D.H. Lawrence, Katherine Mansfield, and painter Mark Gertler were known visitors. Gertler`s famous painting, Gilbert Cannan at His Mill now housed in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford captures Cannan outside the mill with two dogs, one believed to have inspired Nana in Peter Pan. After the Cannans left in 1916, the mill was rented by acclaimed American actress Doris Keane as a countryside retreat. In the 1930s, the building found new life as an artist`s studio under Bernard Adams. More recently, it was home to Sir David Hatch, a well-known BBC Radio director and one- time member of the Cambridge Footlights, who hosted memorable gatherings with friends from the world of entertainment. Thoughtful Restoration and Accommodation The current owners have lovingly restored the windmill`s cap, sails, and fantail, carefully replicating the original Victorian design. The fantail is fully operational, allowing the cap to rotate with the wind, though the sails and fantail are currently secured for safety. The home`s entrance opens into the circular reception hall at the base of the tower, leading into the inner hall of the adjoining cottage. Two elegant and light-filled reception rooms sit on either side, with the sitting room featuring a cosy wood-burning stove. A spiral staircase leads down to the lower ground floor, where you`ll find a spacious dining room showcasing the original steam flywheel, and a large kitchen/breakfast room with an Aga and French doors opening onto a sun-drenched terrace. Upstairs, three generously sized bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite) provide comfortable accommodation. A stunning circular fourth bedroom with en suite shower is ideal for guests, while a further staircase leads to a fifth bedroom perfect as a home office, with spectacular countryside views. From here, a ladder gives access to the cap and the original mill workings. Idyllic Gardens and Setting The beautifully maintained country garden is a peaceful haven, with lovely views over open fields. Well-stocked flower beds, neat lawns, and a tranquil seating area offer a perfect escape. Additional features include two summerhouses, a shed, and a workshop. From the owners. `We especially enjoy sitting in the sunny garden appreciating the views of the beautiful Chiltern countryside. The house works well for entertaining and we have many happy memories of wonderful parties and family gatherings. It is indeed a special place and we have been very lucky to live here.` Location Braziers End is a quaint hamlet near Cholesbury, a village with Anglo-Saxon roots, nestled on the Buckinghamshire Hertfordshire border. The surrounding Chiltern Hills, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offer scenic walks and bridleways. The popular Full Moon pub and restaurant is just a short distance away.
