House Canterbury (United Kingdom)

We moved here about seven years ago as we love the peace and tranquility and the wonderful views. During our time here we have completely renovated and extended the property to create the gorgeous family home you see today. We converted the garage into the games room and added extra rooms including the first floor sitting room and wonderful roof terrace. The house looks amazing dressed overall at Christmastime and we have even put a table tennis table in the games room so we could seat 20 people for Christmas lunch. Although the gardens are quite large, they are easy to manage as we use a robot mower that wanders around all day keeping the grass well-manicured. While we love this house, we are moving to be nearer other family members and hope new owners will enjoy everything about this wonderful home. Although we are surrounded by the Kent countryside we are not far from Canterbury and Ashford. It is also only a three minute drive or a 20 minute walk to Chilham which includes two pubs and a good primary school plus free parking at its mainline station with access to high speed trains to London taking less than an hour. Chilham is probably one of the most beautiful villages in the South East of England with its 16th century black and white houses, The White Horse Inn and tea rooms surrounding the delightful village square. This also has gated access to Chilham castle which was destroyed except for the impressive Medieval Keep and was replaced by a magnificent Jacobean mansion set in 25 acres of delightful gardens and 300 acres of park and woodland. This was created by a number of famous designers including Capability Brown and now features an international cross country course. You will also find the excellent Badgers farm shop and cidery as well as Bagham Barn Antiques. The nearby historic city of Canterbury includes a plethora of ancient buildings, lovely pubs, restaurants and two theatres as well as a variety of high street stores and independent shops, recreational facilities such as a golf course and sports centres and two mainline stations. It also has excellent grammar schools as well as top class public schools and three universities.

The first floor is arranged around a central landing and comprises three further bedrooms. The principal bedroom is a particularly generous space, featuring large sash windows, fitted storage and a Jack and Jill bathroom arrangement finished with traditional fittings. Two additional bedrooms are well-proportioned and benefit from good natural light, served by a separate family shower room. The rear garden has been thoughtfully arranged with a combination of planted borders, mature greenery and a central gravelled seating area. The space is both private and well-proportioned, offering a calm and established outdoor setting ideal for entertaining or quiet retreat. Throughout, the house retains a cohesive decorative language, with original timber floors, fireplaces and period detailing balanced by later interventions that enhance functionality without compromising character. The result is a home of considerable scale and flexibility, equally suited to family living or further architectural enhancement. The Area Belsize Road is well positioned within South Hampstead, offering convenient access to a range of local amenities and excellent transport connections. South Hampstead Overground and Kilburn High Road stations are both within a short walk, while Swiss Cottage and Finchley Road Underground stations (Jubilee and Metropolitan lines) provide swift access across central London. House Cardigan (United Kingdom)

A Victorian Mansion of Rare Distinction — Nine Bedrooms, Nine Acres, 140 Years of Story Commissioned in 1885 by a gentleman of means, designed by George Morgan of Carmarthen — architect of courts and churches across south-west Wales — Glanolmarch Mansion has stood at the heart of the Teifi Valley for 140 years. Hand-dressed Cilgerran stone. Bath stone mullions. Stained glass dated the year of its completion. This is not a house that pretends to grandeur; it was built to it. Set within almost four acres of mature gardens and courtyard outbuildings in the village of Llechryd, within minutes of Cardigan and a short drive from the Pembrokeshire coast, Glanolmarch offers something increasingly rare: a Welsh country mansion of genuine Victorian pedigree, offered to the market for the first time in over sixty years, with no onward chain. Nine bedrooms. Three principal reception rooms. A billiard room. A galleried landing. Coach house. Stabling. Walled garden. Victorian greenhouse. And a second floor with significant further potential. The tree-lined tarmacadam drive announces what lies beyond before the house itself comes into view — copper beeches and specimen trees framing the arrival in the manner that Victorian architects intended. The approach is a statement in itself. As the mansion reveals itself — three storeys of hand-dressed Cilgerran grey stone with Bath stone dressings, steep-pitched slate roofs, pointed gables and Gothic-arched entrance portal draped in mature climber — the scale and quality of what was built here becomes impossible to ignore. The exterior is notable for its consistency: this is a house designed by one hand, built in one campaign, and cared for by one family for more than six decades. The result is a property in remarkable original condition, with all the integrity of its architecture preserved. Open Day at the Stunning Glanolmarch Mansion Monday 25th May | 10am–3pm Glanolmarch Mansion, Llechryd, Cardigan, SA43

House Sevenoaks (United Kingdom)

GUIDE PRICE £1,100,000 - £1,200,000 Attwood Place is a truly distinguished Queen Anne Grade II listed property dating back to 1703, set in the heart of the picturesque village of Ash, Sevenoaks. With over three centuries of history, the house combines fine period architecture and original features with areas of modern comfort, creating a home of both charm and versatility. From the moment you step inside, the generous proportions are immediately evident. The welcoming hallway leads to a formal dining room with a magnificent inglenook fireplace, a characterful sitting room with further feature fireplace, and a family breakfast room that connects seamlessly to the modern kitchen, perfectly positioned to enjoy views across the gardens. A useful cloakroom completes the ground floor, while stairs descend to a spacious cellar, currently used in part as a utility area. The elegant period staircase rises to the first floor, where the main bedroom benefits from a reconfigured layout to have its own dressing room and ensuite shower room. A further well-sized double bedroom is complemented by a study, formally a bedroom, which leads to a family bathroom, the study offers versatility as a home office or additional guest space. The second floor provides two further bedrooms, both with restricted head height, making them ideal for children or visiting family. Throughout, the rooms are beautifully proportioned, with original details preserved, making them equally suited to family living or formal entertaining. The grounds extend to approximately 1.3 acres and offer a truly idyllic setting. Mature flint walls, established planting and colourful beds frame sweeping lawns and patios for summer entertaining, while a more informal orchard area provides a productive and relaxed outdoor space. Whether for gardening enthusiasts or those who simply wish to enjoy the tranquillity, the gardens offer a haven of peace and privacy. Adding to the lifestyle appeal, a detached heated pool house complex of 1,355 sq ft includes a swimming pool, sauna, and large entertainment space, ensuring year-round recreation and the opportunity to host gatherings in style. To the front of the property, a gravel drive offers ample parking, enhanced by a detached double garage. Attwood Place represents a rare opportunity to acquire a historic home of exceptional character and charm. Excellent transport links add to the appeal, with Longfield station providing regular services to London Victoria in around 30 minutes, while Ebbsfleet International offers high-speed links to London St Pancras in just 17 minutes. The M20, M25 and A2 are all easily accessible, ensuring swift road connections to London, the Kent coast and beyond. Location    Ash is a small village located in the district of Sevenoaks. It shares the parish of Ash-cum-Ridley with the nearby village of Ridley. The London Golf Club is located in the village, which hosts the European Open on the PGA European Tour. Directions    From Fine & Country North Kent proceed along Ash Road, at the roundabout turn left onto Chapel Wood Road, follow the road along passing the White Swan public house on your right, continue along The Street for approximately 350 m where you will find the property on the right hand side. Seller Insight    “Attwood Place has been our home for the past twenty nine years. From the very first moment we stepped inside, there was an undeniable welcoming spirit and the beautiful inglenook fireplace sealed our decision. As a Grade II listed property dating back to 1703, it carries with it a rich heritage. We even had the privilege of celebrating its 300th anniversary here, hosting a wonderful party to mark the occasion.” “During our time here, we have been careful to modernise while preserving its charm. We added a garage in the traditional Kent barn style, blending practicality with character and a new roof in 2014. In the sitting room we introduced an additional window to flood the space with light - a lengthy process, but well worth the effort. We also installed a fireplace with a solid wooden beam, in keeping with the style. In the main bedroom we added a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom. We also purchased extra land to extend the garden.” .    “The house is full of beautiful features - exposed beams, many of which were reclaimed from old ships, each carrying its own story. My favourite spaces are the sitting room and dining room, both cosy and perfect for welcoming guests. The layout is unusual, with no passageways - each room flows into the next, making it ideal for entertaining. We are a sociable family, and friends have always loved visiting. In the winter, gatherings are held indoors by the fire, and in the summer, we entertain in the garden or by the swimming pool.” “The garden and orchard are wonderfully private, offering apples, plums, pears, blackberries, gooseberries, and even apricots.” The village hall has offered cinema nights, children’s parties, church and fund raising events, fitness classes including pilates and yoga. It’s a place that brings people together in the local community. We are also fortunate to have one pub which is very sociable. All amenities are within easy reach.” “What we will miss most when we leave is the sense of space, the privacy, and above all, the joy of entertaining family and friends here over the years. Attwood Place has been incredibly kind to us, and we have always considered ourselves its custodians. We hope that whoever makes it their home next will love it just as much as we have.” Entrance Hall    Period door to front. Carpet. Plain ceiling. Stairs to lower landing. House Cardigan (United Kingdom)

Tyllwyd Mansion – Historic Estate with Elegant Accommodation and Energy Efficiency Features Tyllwyd is one of many significant estates in the Cardiganshire area, with a long and fascinating history. Over the centuries, it has seen visits from the Rebecca Rioters, connections to Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale in the Crimea, involvement with the East India Company, ties to the foundation of the British Homeopathic Society, and even an attempt to derail a train carrying William Gladstone to West Wales. The Tivyside region, socially and geographically, was approximately twenty miles long and four to five miles wide. It encompassed parts of the West Wales counties of Cardigan, Carmarthen, and Pembrokeshire. Within this area were some forty to fifty country houses, closely connected by institutions such as the Tivyside Foxhounds and the Lawn Tennis Club at Newcastle Emlyn. To date, there have been three books dedicated to the estate and its owners, along with references in various local and regional historical texts. These include The South Wales Squires by Herbert M. Vaughan, Memoirs of an Old Soldier by Sydney Parry Jones, and Beta Jones Parry, Her Family and Tyllwyd, Her Home by Ginny Jenkins. Together, these works help preserve the estate's legacy, unlike many other country homes lost to history. The original house dates back to the 1730s, with major extensions added during the early 19th century. The attic once housed the servants’ quarters, which included the structure of seven bedrooms still present when the property was purchased in 2003. Today, Tyllwyd has been transformed into a grand country house with elegant and flexible living accommodation. At the heart of the home is the magnificent ballroom – a light-filled and spacious function room, complete with sash windows, high ceilings, French doors to the lawn, and a wood burner. This is a space made for entertaining. Adjacent, the south-facing library offers a quieter atmosphere, with original sash windows, fitted shelving, and a cosy wood burner. The dining room is equally generous in proportion, comfortably seating twelve and framed by an inglenook fireplace, a breakfast bar, and French doors that lead out to the west-facing patio. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with tiled floors, freestanding cabinets, and a Rangemaster cooker, with French doors opening onto the eastern terrace. A traditional pantry with slate slab shelving and original flooring sits alongside a utility room and downstairs WC. A ground-floor bathroom with a walk-in shower is also available. One wing of the house hosts a self-contained annexe – a charming addition with a sitting room featuring a wood burner in an inglenook fireplace, a fitted kitchen, a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes, and a private en suite. This wing also offers direct access to the courtyard and commercial kitchen, making it ideal for hospitality ventures. Upstairs, the first floor unfolds into an elegant collection of bedrooms. The principal suite is an exceptional space, with a round gable-end window, two additional sash windows, and enough room for a bed, sofas, and writing desk. Its en suite features a large rainfall shower. Two further south-facing double bedrooms feature decorative fireplaces and sash windows, one with a mural and the other with trompe l’oeil artwork. Another section of the house includes a large double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, vanity unit, and en suite with a clawfoot bath, a single bedroom with en suite, and two further spacious doubles – all retaining their original fireplaces and historic charm. A small single room, once used as an office, links through to a light-filled double bedroom with arched windows and garden views. Above, the former servants’ quarters span the second floor – a suite of seven rooms with original floorboards, currently used for storage but ripe for transformation subject to the necessary permissions. The estate also includes a large commercial kitchen and store room, housed within the attached barn – a perfect asset for hosting, retreats, or events. Energy & Sustainability Tyllwyd combines period charm with modern eco-conscious features. A roof-mounted solar thermal array provides hot water for the home, while a 4kW ground-mounted solar PV array supplies electricity and feeds into the national grid under an index-linked Feed-in-Tariff running until 2037. These installations support lower energy costs and contribute to sustainable living. Additionally, planning permission has been granted for the construction of a substantial orangery on the west patio – an exciting opportunity to expand the living or entertaining space in harmony with the property’s historic elegance. Historical Legacy Tyllwyd holds deep connections to the local community, many of whom are descendants of those who lived or worked on the estate over generations. From Colonel Vaughan Lloyd to Charles Arthur Pritchard, and later Dorothea Jones Parry and her descendants, the estate's story intertwines with national events and personal tales of resilience and adaptation. Despite economic hardship, world wars, and shifting fortunes, Tyllwyd has endured. From being heated by culm fires to the installation of modern central heating, from a lack of electricity to thoughtful restoration, the estate has evolved while preserving its character. Today, set within approximately 18 acres, with its pond, and the towering Wellingtonian Sequoia, Tyllwyd stands not only as a private residence but as a timeless beacon of heritage, potential, and understated grandeur. There is a walled garden available by separate negotiation if desired by a new owner. Its current owner, the third woman in the Lewis/Lewes family to care for the house, has completed a loving restoration that honours its past while preparing it for a new chapter. Tyllwyd is ready to welcome its next custodian. Contact Fine & Country West Wales to arrange a viewing.

House London (United Kingdom)

Castelnau doesn’t really do subtle. It is the kind of address that announces itself before you even arrive, grand, historic and confidently elegant. This is one of those rare Barnes homes that feels less like a house and more like a private estate: seven bedrooms, exceptional proportions and the sort of footprint that makes most London homes feel rather modest by comparison. The house Step inside and the first impression is volume. The entrance hall is expansive, setting the tone for a home that has been designed to impress without ever feeling overworked. The reception rooms unfold beautifully, offering generous spaces for entertaining, family life and those quieter moments in between. The bedrooms are properly scaled rather than merely functional, and the overall layout gives the house real breathing room. With a total floor area of around 9,397 sq ft, including loft and ancillary space, there is plenty of room for life to unfold at an easy, unhurried pace. Upstairs, the rooms continue that sense of scale and flexibility. Whether you need space for family, guests, working from home or all three, this is a house that adapts with ease. It is substantial, practical and undeniably impressive, but still feels warm and liveable rather than overblown. The setting Castelnau remains one of Barnes’ most desirable addresses, with the village atmosphere just beyond your door and the river mood never far away. Independent shops, excellent cafés, restaurants and the easy rhythm of Barnes give the area its enduring appeal, while transport links from Barnes and Barnes Bridge keep central London within straightforward reach. This is a home that balances presence with ease. Big, elegant and beautifully composed, it offers the kind of scale and setting that is increasingly rare in London. A house with real gravitas, in a location that continues to feel distinctly special.
