A fortified watermill with a 12th-century tower, nestled in the River Tolzac valley in France’s Lot-et-Garonne department. At first glance, you see an intriguing mix of structures made of pointed rubble stone and brick with many windows, beneath roofs of monk-and-nun tiling. The river flows through two stone arches that support the watermill from underneath. Behind, a square tower crowned with a pyramidal roof of flat tiles overlooks the whole complex. Lawns surround the buildings and edge the steep-banked river. At the back, an iron footbridge crosses the stream and leads to a meadow that stretches north-west beyond leafy trees.
