House with garden Lormes (58)

In the heart of the Morvan regional natural park, a 19th-century master house, its outbuildings, and its tree-filled land of over 2 hectares. The estate extends over just over 2 hectares as a single entity. It is made up of orchards, lawns, and wooded areas. The main access is from a departmental road via a path that traverses the forest. Facing south, the house is flanked to the west by a barn, and the other outbuildings are arranged around a courtyard, also on the west side. Raised over three levels, the rustic residence features a main body whose front facade is rhythmically adorned with numerous regularly spaced bays and covered with a fairly homogeneous plaster despite some repairs. Only the lintels and corner chains are in exposed cut stone. The slate roof, with two slopes, features a setback, and the second floor is punctuated by a series of hip dormers. Several chimney stacks crown the building. On the east side, a building adjoins the house and houses a large staircase that serves the upper floors. The living space typically includes a kitchen, dining room, and three living rooms on the first level, while each of the upper floors contains five bedrooms and two bathrooms or showers, with the latter also including three additional rooms to be developed. While its ornaments (notably fireplaces and ceiling moldings, for example) are in good condition and its coverings (mainly parquet and terracotta tiles) are of high quality, it nevertheless needs refreshing overall. This description has been automatically translated from French.

House with garden Charolles (71)

An old, 14th-century fortified manor house and its tree-filled garden in southern Burgundy, the birthplace of Charolais cattle. This property stands on a hill dominating a market town. When constructed in the 14th century it was part of a bigger medieval estate that included the neighbouring, listed priory, still in existence. The county of Charolais was then part of the Duchy of Burgundy, independent of the French monarchy. The building still has some outstanding architectural features dating from this period. The local pottery works was installed in the property’s parklands during the 19th and 20th centuries. A few conversion works were also carried out at this time: the southern facade was extended and an astonishing ceramic kiln constructed in the parklands. Set on the heights of the town, this property remains extremely quiet and has been meticulously restored over recent years.

House with garden and terrace Michery (89)

Two houses and a garden that an artist has turned into an original haven, nestled in France’s Yonne department, 100 kilometres from Paris. The property’s current owner, an artist who produces paintings, turned this ordinary two-floor farmhouse into a unique haven. The artist sought harmony here, using their own creativity and drawing inspiration from the aesthetic qualities of fine materials and from local craftsmanship. The result is today’s highly original property. Close attention has been paid to making it unique yet coherent. The property is enclosed behind walls on a quiet street. It enjoys absolute privacy and calm. From outside, it does not suggest the originality that it hides. A large double-leaf metal gate framed between two brick pillars leads straight into a grassy garden dotted with various water features. To the left, on the south side, there is a guesthouse with a central tower capped with a pyramidal roof that is crowned with a finial. To the right, on the north side, there is the main dwelling. It is an elongated building that faces south-east. A wing protrudes at a right angle to the main section at its west end. Just behind this wing there is a bakehouse. In front of the main dwelling there is an ornamental pond. An arched bridge of old flat tiles crosses it. The bridge is edged with a metal balustrade adorned with volutes at the end. Flat Burgundy tiles are the only material common to all the buildings on the property. Beyond the ornamental pond, an archway beneath a circular opening takes you to the other side of a decorative wall of round tiles. The property’s second section lies there. A vast space extends in this second section. Its south-west corner is marked by a retreat with a slate roof and stained glass of different colours. Alongside this retreat, there is a terrace covered by a canopy of glass and metal.

A medieval, 15th-century, half-timbered house, in south Burgundy, not far from the abbeys at Cluny and Tournus. All the building has been fully renovated under the supervision of an architect specialised in heritage and under the control of heritage agency Bâtiments de France. Such was the quality of the work carried out that it received a French heritage label from the Fondation du Patrimoine agency. Furthermore, during this work, it was possible to confirm the origins of the building as being from the first quarter of the 15th century (1407-1427) thanks to a dendrochronological study. In respect for the past, no visibly anachronistic materials were used in the renovation and the building is made up of wood, stone, earth and glass.

Property Dijon (21)

A 4-storey building, recently reorganised into 11 flats that range from 18 to 43 m², for a total floor area of 360 m², in the medieval centre of Dijon. The building includes a ground floor over a basement level, two upper floors and a converted attic level topped with an interlocking tile roof. Facing the street, the building’s front façade, in very good condition, is clad in lime plaster and decorated with stone stringcourses, balconies protected by wrought-iron guardrails and supported by corbels, multi-paned windows with stone surrounds and folding louvred shutters. From the street, an automatic wooden carriage door opens onto a cobblestone passageway, which provides pedestrian and vehicle access to the interior gravel courtyard – with five covered parking spaces in addition to one for people with reduced mobility – as well as the building’s entrance. Facing the courtyard, the building’s other façade, also in very good condition, is clad in lime plaster and adorned with multi-paned windows with stone surrounds, which are protected by pairs of louvred shutters. A flat, reserved, first and foremost for people with reduced mobility, is accessible from the interior courtyard, from where it is also possible to access the cellars in the basement level – via double metal doors – as well as a private machine room on the ground floor. Castle Beaune (21)

An 18th-century chateau near Beaune, in the peace and quiet of the Burgundy countryside, surrounded by majestic topiary trees and 15 hectares of parklands, meadows and woods. One has to get a little lost to find the chateau. The road first runs alongside an impressive dovecote situated outside the perimeter walls, like a watchtower, then ends at the threshold of a sober gate flanked by two stone pillars. The unobstructed panoramic view reveals the chateau and its flat-tiled roof. It is slightly elevated and bordered by a raised garden adorned with stately topiary elements. The symmetrical ochre facade features a protruding gable pediment with an oeil-de-boeuf window in the centre. It is flanked by two small wings, one of which has a slate roof. At its feet, a line of pruned box hedges shelters four sculptures that seem to watch over the property. In the centre, the vegetation gives way to a perron with a few steps leading to the forecourt and its monumental yew topiaries. On either side of the esplanade, the numerous brick outbuildings with small flat tile roofs harmoniously complement the overall picture. Near the former grape harvesting shed, a large stone watering basin has been transformed into a water feature.

Today’s buildings were probably built upon a medieval site. They are the last reflection of what a local nobleman built in 1775. The estate looks down over a wooded valley, around which lush hills, pasture and forests stretch as far as the eye can see. The bucolic atmosphere that reigns here is completely calm, recalling the name of the river that edges the property: the River Serein, ‘serein’ meaning ‘serene’ in French. You reach the property via a lane that climbs up a hill. There are several driveways. Two of them lead into the grand courtyard from the north and south sides. The main house and the gîtes stand around this court. The third driveway, marked with signposts, takes the clients straight to the car park.

House with garden Dijon (21)

An 18th-century mill, outbuildings and millstream which can be swum in near Beaune and Dijon, at the intersection of the Morvan and Auxois regions . Accessed via a private driveway, the property is set in more than 15 000 m² of wooded grounds that stretche discreetly between the Arroux river and wooded foothills. The entrance opens to reveals a group of buildings neatly arranged around an inner courtyard, with an 18th-century water mill at the back, the central feature of the estate and now the main building, that opens onto a peaceful pool of shimmering water. The reflection of the sky and the waterfall bring the estate to life throughout the day. Around the courtyard, the outbuildings are vestiges of its past farming activity: a cowshed, a barn, a miller's house, a stable, a set of sheds including a henhouse and an old pigsty. The mill has full water rights, a legal status inherited from the Ancien Régime, which attests to its existence prior to 1789 and grants the owner privileged use of water resources without any administrative constraints.
